TV Channels

 Television is considered a vital part for Cypriots. Eight land channels succeeded in attracting almost every Cypriot and foreigner to sit and watch at least an hour a day of TV. The channels are: 

My favourite channel is Sigma, as they have a bit from everything to everybody. They show amazing Greek and Cypriot series, foreign series, movies and sports. I personally spend about 1-2 hours a day on the TV. Watching the news at 8:15 pm is also very important as you will know what is happening on this small island. The Cyprus broadcasting system enjoys transparency and credibility, which makes it interesting to follow the news and recover the truths of what is going on around us. The bothering thing I found about most of the channels, is that they start broadcasting movies at about 11:30 pm (after the news and some Greek series), which I admit that I have never been able to finish a movie as I have already been falling asleep!

There are also cable channels that you can put in your house like Nova Cyprus and Nova Greece, and these bring a wide range of channels-European as well as Greek and Cypriot. There are lots of service providers that you can connect with, but the average price is the same across all providers which is about 25 pounds per month for 100 channels.

LTV and Alpha mentioned above enjoy the most viewing in Cyprus as they bring the Cypriot and the international Soccer (Cyprus cups, English Cups, UEFA Cup, Spanish, etc.)
